Review of the Chanverse

For the first time ever, Yotusba Society will do a full review of the known Chanverse. Looking at major each board of every major chan and where possible every major minor chan. From Page 15 to the front page. We will briefly talk about the usual content, the images, the culture, and moderation patterns of each board and site. During the review I will be reviewing some threads from those chans. I want to know what really makes the difference between the chans and the boards. What drives them, and what reference it can made to the real world, or is it the reverse?

A Public Service Advisory Regarding the 4chon.net admin Savetheinternet

Since Early Summer of 2011, savetheinternet and his cyberyob crew “Leetchan” has been harassing me and Yotsuba Society almost the last two years. With him and along with leetchan, he has been doing a racially and ablest motivated hate campaign against me. The types of harassments including prank calls, spambombing of chans, zero-day hacks, defamation slam sites, irc harassment and flooding, and using a fake website (shotgunhost) to steal 72 GB of content of a potential fuuka archive for /cgl/.

The Russian Chanverse Part 2 – A Brief history of the Russian Chanverse (as told by antithesis and wakabaka)

The following is a textlog from #YotsubaSociety IRC room at rizon at 3/13/2013, featuring two Russian channers “antithesis” and “wakabaka” giving us an introduction into the history of the Russian chanverse. The textlog also includes some things that I did not knew about: Such as the true admin of the original Russian 2-ch.ru before it was closed down without warning. So here’s our full textlog.

The Day 1chan.ru came

On February 28, 2013, I’ve uploaded a video of my third panel to Katsucon entitled The Imageboard World 2 – The Chanverse. A few weeks after the video was uploaded on YouTube the first comments came. Most of them came from reddit from r/4chan and r/cringe. Many of the comments were overwhelming focused on the presentation and the autism of the speaker and not on the actual content of the panel.

A Briefing on lurkmore.to - The Russian internet culture encylopedia

Lurkmore.to or /lm/ was originally founded as a place for 2ch.ru culture and memes. Now it encompasses the broad runet subculture. This is in comparsion in Enccylopedia Dramatica’s focus on internet drama in the United States. More specifically in one of Lurkmore.to’s articles it’s a “Russian-language encyclopedia of folklore and subcultures. Serves as a guide to the concepts and terminology of Russian cultural life in all its manifestations” It’s userbase is over 50 million.

The Imageboard World 2 – The Chanverse at Katsucon 19 Video

After a few weeks I've finally managed to upload the entire video of the presentation onto YouTube. The entire panel, uncensored and uncut. This is the first time I've recorded my own panels at any anime convention and I wanted to do it since my second panel at Katsucon. Anyway the video can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX9ecYuHMKI

The Imageboard World 2 – The Chanverse at Katsucon 19 Presentation

On Sunday at 3am, I finally had my panel for Katsucon 19. Despite the fact that I only had few people going to the panel and a three phone calls by a known group of cyberyobs, it was relatively quiet despite the new information featured in the thread. But there was something that made my panel a lot better: A /sp/artan tripfag known as The Brotherman from 4chan who was originally a ot/a/ku came to the panel, who talked about the 2010 incident. No not the Otakon 2010 incident, but the 2010 incident around the South African world cup.

The Imageboard World 2 – The Chanverse at Katsucon 19

For third time in a row in Katsucon, I’m personally pleased to announce that we are back with the third panel that Yotsuba Society has held in an anime convention. The panel will be a lot detailed (and enjoyable) than the previous panel. Not only will we update you with what happened after the last panel, we will give you more expanded information on not only 4chan, but the English chanverse, and the international chanverse, especially the large and unknown Russian chanverse of 2ch.hk as well.

Two panels, Two Powerpoints

Shortly after the creation of the Yotsuba Society Websites in 2011 I applied to do a panel for Katsucon 17. The panel was called “The Imageboard World”. It was held by me, my co-founder Xantar, Charizard, and another person called Nostalgia. I was a basic panel about imageboards, a few pictures here and then of the front pages of the *chans, and one stage about “Stages of a Channer” from one of my articles. A few people attended, and for some reason Katsucon liked my panel.
